Your privacy, plainly stated

We're a family running one lakehouse. We like to keep things simple. Here's what information passes through casolena.ca and why. Last updated July 11, 2026.

The short version: no advertising trackers and we never sell your information. Booking details are used only to host your stay and card payments are processed securely by Stripe, so we never see your card number.

When you browse this site

Our own server collects usage statistics so we can improve the site: pages viewed, links clicked, device and browser details, approximate location and how visitors found us. Depending on where you're visiting from, this may include your IP address and a random identifier stored in your browser that recognises returning visits; visitors from regions with stricter privacy rules are counted anonymously. No advertising networks or third-party trackers are involved.

You can opt out any time by opening casolena.ca/?analytics=off once on your device. We honor your browser's Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals automatically.

When you book or contact us

To host your stay we collect what you'd expect: your name, contact details, the names and ages of your party, your stay dates and any notes you send us. We use these to manage your booking, send stay-related emails and meet tax and accounting rules; where required, this information may be shared with relevant authorities for legal or insurance purposes. Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details go directly from your browser to Stripe and never touch our server. Bookings made through Airbnb are governed by Airbnb's own privacy policy.

Sharing, cameras and retention

Your information is shared only with the service providers needed to run the place (payment processing, email delivery, location lookup and calendar sync) and is never sold or used for advertising. As noted in our house rules, security cameras protect guest safety and the security of the property and we strictly adhere to the camera policies of all major booking platforms: cameras are outdoors only (driveway, entry points and lakefront), never indoors. Footage may be shared with authorities for legal or insurance purposes. We retain information for as long as it remains useful for running the lakehouse and as required for legal, accounting and insurance purposes.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us at any time what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (we'll comply unless the law requires us to keep a booking record). Just contact us and a real person will answer. If we change how this site handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
